Darley Woods
In 2011 we were informed by the Forestry Commission that we had the disease Phytophthora Ramorum in the Larch trees in Darley Wood and that these would have to be felled by the end of July and removed from site as soon as practicable. The trees were felled and we are currently waiting for approved contractors to remove the timber. We can then get on with repairing the damage and planning the new planting/regeneration. Our long term aim is to convert the whole wood to deciduous.

New for 2011
Many people who have been on my courses in the past have expressed an interest in developing their skills further, or practicing with some support to do the tricky bits that are difficult to remember. So I have decided to offer individual and small group tuition at my workshop. From February onwards I can offer tuition on most Fridays, please contact me for available dates. So, if you want to learn new basketmaking skills or just brush up on techniques then do contact me to discuss your requirements.
Cost will be £40 for the day, materials extra depending upon the amount used or bring your own.

Winter snow December 2010
Earlier in December we were plunged into freezing temperatures and snow which made feeding and watering the cattle difficult. When you are struggling to cope with these extremes it is difficult to appreciate how beautiful the countryside looks in its cloak of snow and ice!

Sleepy Dormouse
In one of our woods we have a dormouse scheme running and this little female was found during box checking in October. She weighed in at 24gm so let’s hope she will survive the winter.
